Workplace Emergency Podiatry Medication Support

We provide on-site emergency podiatry support, including the use of approved medication, to manage acute foot pain and infection in the workplace and prevent issues from escalating.

This service is delivered by HCPC registered podiatrists and supports rapid assessment, treatment, and decision-making when employees develop sudden or worsening foot conditions at work.

What Medication Can Be Provided

Where clinically appropriate and legally permitted, this service may include:

Pain Management
  • Pain relief medication to manage acute foot pain or inflammation
  • Local anaesthetic for urgent podiatric procedures, such as infected nails
Infection Management
  • Antibiotics for confirmed or suspected foot infections
  • Management of infected ingrown toenails
  • Treatment of infected wounds or nail conditions

Medication is provided only following clinical assessment and in line with UK medicines legislation, Patient Group Directions (PGDs), or independent prescribing arrangements where applicable.

If the condition is severe or systemic, immediate escalation to GP or emergency services is arranged.
